BIOGRAPHY

Lisa Dent joined the Finding Time curatorial team while serving as the associate curator of contemporary art at the Columbus Museum of Art. She left the project in autumn 2012 and transitioned to a new position as director of grants and services for Creative Capital, a leading cultural philanthropy organization based in New York City. Dent’s exhibitions in Columbus included presentations by Latifa Echakhch and Stephanie Syjuco in the museum’s Currents series, as well as the group show Supply & Demand at Columbus College of Art and Design.

Dent previously held curatorial staff positions at the New Museum of Contemporary Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art and was a Helena Rubenstein Fellow at the Museum of Modern Art and a director at Friedrich Petzel Gallery in New York. She has worked in film and the performing arts as a scenic designer, art director, and producer on numerous projects. From 2004 to 2008, Dent owned and managed Lisa Dent Gallery in San Francisco, where she presented the work of emerging and mid-career international artists. She has served on numerous juries and committees and is a board member of Visual AIDS.  She has taught courses in art history and design at Cooper Union, University of California–Davis, Columbus College of Art and Design, and The Ohio State University. Dent received her BFA from Howard University, earned her MFA at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and completed the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in curatorial studies.
